Favorite Poker Pro? I’d have to say Daniel Negreanu got me more interested in playing MTT’s in general, but since going full time - online pros like PearlJammer, SCTrojans, lilholdem954 and Annette15 and their different approaches to the game have become my favorites.
Who/what has influenced your play the most? If just one person it would be PearlJammer (Jon Turner) however I spend an average of a couple hours a day reading strategy forums and hand histories trying to better my game. There are many different sucessfull approaches to playing MTT’s. Although I stick to a style I’m most comfortable with, Im always looking for areas I may be weak in to improve on. Im very competitive and that helps in my desire to be constantly learning.
What advice do you have for people wanting to make the jump from live to online play? Understand variance. You see so more many hands per hour online. Add in the ability to play more than one table, and you will see bigger swings and what may seem like more bad beats just to to the volume of hands you will see. Also realize that although you may play in a 1/2 nl game live, 1/2 nl online plays more like a 3/6 nl game live, again largely due to the volume of hands seen.
Read. The internet is like a new book that is published every second. Take advantage of it, and use it to improve your game.
Have confidence. Find an approach and have confidencce in it and yourself. Losing streaks, bad beats, bubbling tournaments, variance will all test this. Some of the best advice I ever got was that poker is all about confidence.
