Rob Hughes has been playing with the Atlanta Poker Club since September 2005. He has won an APC overall points championship and has qualified for 3 All Star events. Rob loves poker and plays every chance he gets. He has played everywhere from Tunica to Vegas and even overseas. Rob has also helped sponsor certain APC events due to his love for poker and the APC. He calls himself the APC hippie and can be seen wearing his famous ” Flaming Poker ” shirt and enjoying a glass of Pinot Grigio.

APC Overall Points Champion Season 9

Favorite Poker Pro?
I think Daniel Negreanu is the best “reader”, Gus Hanson is the best “aggressive player”, Phil Ivey is probably the best overall player, and Phil Helmuth is the most confident - just ask him. Hoyt Corkins is the best player who is in denial about his sexual orientation. But, of course, my favorite Pro is Doyle.

Who has influenced your play the most?
Howard Lederer and Annie Duke because they seem to be the logical thinker types as far as the “Pros” go. Learning the game and thinking it through as they do will likely result in one being a winner in the long run and that is my personal goal. When the casket is closed, I want my bankroll to be “UP”.

What else do you want to accomplish with the APC?
Learning the math better, as well as developing and improving “reading” skills. If one gets nothing else correct, being competent in these two elements of the game will do the most toward making one a wining player.

Any advice for new members joining the APC?
Don’t play AQ, unless you are in a hand with me, then, by all means, play it! You’d be a shoe in to take down that pot.
